Whether you’re a solo-traveller or travelling with teens, this site dishes up guides and inspirational travel tips to make you feel like global travel is within reach. I caught up with the lovely Wendy about all things travel and here’s what she had to say!
Name a place your dying to visit?
I would love to visit Montenegro, which is situated in the South of the Adriatic Sea. I have a friend who spends the summer holidays there every year and her photos look amazing. Montenegro has a vast natural landscape from the beautiful seaside towns, to the picturesque lakes and a short drive inland you will have a magnificent mountain range. I can’t wait to be able to put this place on my itinerary!
Name a favourite destination you would go back to and why?
I am going to have to say Italy as a whole. I have loved every city that I have travelled to there. The country is so diverse in culture, from the romance of Venice to the amazing ancient history of Rome and then down south to the beautiful Amalfi Coast where life gets back to basics, with lovely locals and a relaxed lifestyle.
What’s your plane personality?
On planes I am not a sleeper at all and on long haul flights I can only ever manage a catnap here and there. So my time is passed by reading a book, watching the in-flight movies back to back or reading up on my destination and making plans. I like to sit on the aisle seat rather than the window seat if it’s a long haul flight, so I can get up and stretch my legs.
What’s one thing you despise about travelling?
It would have to be carrying luggage around and waiting at airports when in transit. Other than that what is there to despise about travelling!
If you could be transported to one place at one time, what would it be and why?
This sounds a little crazy but being a history buff I would like to time travel. So I would love to be transported to the court of Henry VIII or to ancient Rome and experience the Colosseum in its heyday, just to see what it was like during those times.
Aside from the basics, which items do you always take away with you?
I always take my own hairdryer and hair straightener, I just can’t survive without them!
What kind of luggage do you prefer?
I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to luggage. I take a medium sized lightweight suitcase on two wheels (definitely not the 4 wheeled ones) as my luggage takes a beating.
What’s your favourite hotel that you’ve had the pleasure of staying in?
My favourite hotel would have to be Le Sirenuse in Positano, Italy. I can’t say enough about this place as I had the most amazing time there! The hospitality offered by the warm hearted staff of this 5 star hotel is outstanding, even if you are not a guest. Whether you are enjoying a drink on the balcony of the Champagne bar or swimming in the pool, you will be spoilt with the most beautiful view of the sea in the world.
