Getting to Finns Beach Club is half the adventure, you must take a steep inclinator from the Semara Villa Resort perched high atop a sheer cliff-face staring at the breathtaking turquoise water of Ungasan Beach below. This ruggedly handsome patch of the world is also one of the most deserted beaches you’ll find on Bali’s main island. Just make sure you stray away from the sometimes crowded deck-chairs and funky DJ beats of Finns Beach Club in the late afternoon so you can mosey along the beach at low-tide. Finns Beach Club is a great little spot serving gourmet food and designer cocktails to the cool kids (there’s even bonfires on the beach at night), but the real the magic begins on your walk…
Ungasan beach walks are what every beached bohemian lives for. The further away you walk from civilization, the more you can delight in nature’s playground. You’ll find deserted microcosms of rock pools, secret huts and lone fisherman trying to catch a feed – all the while giant waves crash steadily into the the reef on the horizon. You can lose hours meandering along the beach in search of starfish and seashells, and you can take a dip in one of the plentiful swimming holes to cool off. Just make sure you don’t get shipwrecked as the tide turns…

[…] Want to know the good news? One of the five bedroom “villas” was exclusively me and my plus one’s throughout our stay. No one sharing the pool or the wet-bar (except maybe our private butler) and yes, you did hear right… we had five bedrooms to the two of us! My first thought was we wouldn’t have enough nights to test out all the bedrooms! And then I saw the master living quarters. Once I witnessed the suite’s beachy-kitch hampton’s-esque style and private infinity plunge pool overlooking the ocean, I knew there was no way we’d be playing musical bedrooms. My second thought was something along the lines of how good travel blogging is when you land a place like this and my third thought? Well, my third thought was how excited I was to test the bomb-diving capabilities of the pool…BOTH of them (always staying classy). And let me tell you, dear friends, those sentiments were just about the only ones playing on repeat in my mind throughout the stay. Oh, and also how awesome their private day club – Finn’s Beach Club was. You can read about my adventures on Ungasan Beach and Finn’s Beach Club here. […]
