Whether you’re in those first hot flushes of young love or you’ve been doing life together for years, taking a romantic holiday with your significant other to solidify the spark is always a good idea. Here are some of my top romantic holiday destinations from around the world.
Top Romantic Holiday Destinations
Venice, Italy
This beautiful city, built on a series of islands in the centre of a huge lagoon, is a classic destination for lovers. Famed for its network of canals which make up the main thoroughfares of the town, and for its distinctive and often crumbling buildings, Venice is a city full of surprises and hidden treasures.

You and your partner could easily wander the alleyways for hours, only to find yourselves right back where you started. Succumb to the winding streets, marvel at the quaint architecture, grab a two-scoop gelato and get hopelessly lost, together.
Alghero, Sardinia
This marvellous little walled town on Sardinia’s North Eastern coast was, until recently, one of the Mediterranean’s best kept secrets. The old town is stunning, evoking a perfectly laid back Italian “La Vita e Bella” vibe. You could easily spend days meandering around the old town living like locals taking long Summer lunches with matching Aperol’s and retreating for afternoon Siestas at the cute little airbnbs scattered around.

‘Il Grotto de Nettune’ or Neptune’s Cave, a short boat ride away, is also well worth a visit for its stunning display of stalagmites and stalactites. In true Italian spirit, the piazza bars in the old town tend to stay open well into the night, which make Alghero ideal for those couples looking to dance the night away.
Channel Islands, UK
The variety and laid back attitudes of the locals on these islands make them a perfect destination for lovers both young and old. With golden sand, crystal clear blue ocean and a summer climate that rivals the South of France (most of the time!) the Channel Islands are made for weekend relaxation. A forty minute flight out of Stansted or Gatwick or two hours by ferry from Weymouth will get you to Guernsey or Jersey, the two largest islands, and from there you can take hourly ferries to Herm or Sark or a local flight to Alderney.

The stunning natural beauty of these islands is complemented by the local pace of life, which some visitors have likened to stepping thirty years into the past. The Channel Islands offer a real variety of experiences for lovers of all ages, with Jersey and Guersey offering surfing, dolphin watching trips, shopping, nightclubs, while the smaller islands are pure relaxation centres, Sark’s Seigneurial Gardens are stunning and rich and Herm, the smallest of the islands to be open to the public, is only a mile by a mile and a half (about the size of Hyde Park) and surrounded on three sides by fine golden sand.
Paris, France
This list wouldn’t be worth it’s chops without including the OG city of Love. With its iconic symbols of love like the glittering Eiffel Tower and the Wall Of Love in Monmartre, it’s as if this beautiful town was built to ignite passion between two people. The charming French culture and art scene only adds to the experience. In fact, Paris is where the artistic movement of “Romanticism” emerged in the early nineteenth Century- whereby an an artist’s emotions were captured within their paintings.

Montparnasse is one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Paris for romantic walks. Everything from galleries to restaurants to boutique shops line the busy streets. Start from the tower and take rue de Rennes, go north exploring this beautiful street. Make a stop at boutique Michalak for a delicious french patisserie and continue on rue de Rennes, you’ll arrive at the boulevard Saint-Germain, and there you’ll find many famous places such as Café de Flore, Café des deux magots, and even La durée if you continue 2 blocks on rue Bonaparte.
