Over eight years, 203 cities, 64 countries and 5 continents, A Modern Wayfarer sought-out extraordinary travel experiences – focussing on the people, lodgings and culture that gave a place its soul. While the journey has now ended for A Modern Wayfarer, a new adventure has begun in the form of a boutique, printed anthology series and travel community in Australia and New Zealand. After graduating from a Bachelor of Journalism and Masters of Communications at the University of Queensland and QUT respectively, Stefanie worked for well-respected media and marketing companies around the world, with one-year stints in London and New York, and four years in Melbourne. She’s currently based on the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
In January 2013 Stefanie quit her corporate marketing job and started copywriting and marketing for a handful of boutique brands. As a freelance communications specialist, Stefanie Ash has the freedom and wherewithal to operate anywhere with a comfy chair and a good WiFi connection – the perfect recipe for working travel!
Also a published writer for over 9 years, Stefanie wanted to marry her love of travel with her respect of the written word and thus A Modern Wayfarer was born. What started as a little side-project in March 2013 has grown into a thriving travelogue with a dedicated following that continues to grow every month.
She recently launched a boutique travel anthology, Stay Awhile, which showcases special Australia and New Zealand stays and the stories’ behind them. She also continues to contribute travel stories to The Age, Conde Nast Traveler, Traveller.com, Jetstar Mag and the QANTAS inflight INSIDER magazine.
